From my final presentation I know there are two ways I could potentially continue my project, one thought was inspired by my tutors showing the opportunity that my project is my reality to what a perfect day in Brighton would be for me and that if someone else was doing this project theirs may be different. I think people from their hometown choosing their favourite locations is one of the best ways to be used in this project, it shows off ones personality and takes on another level by showing someone at the ideal student age what they personally liked about their hometown. Another thought was to create the app for all students just showing off a generally common idea of what most students would like to do in their specific towns, I know they all may vary so I can just add a range of places and then those using it can just pick their favourite ones they'd like to visit. I think this first idea may be better as it allows people to view one persons choice of places and shows something that isn't so generic.

https://vimeo.com/200336637 This is the link to the King and Queen pub in Brighton, this is what you would see if you were standing outside the Pub using the app. https://vimeo.com/200336631 Here is a link to the merry go round on the Pier, This is a GIF I created showing what you'd see in a different reality. https://vimeo.com/200336587 This is the link to the Marina studios, it shows a video taken from the inside of the studio showing off one of the workshops. https://vimeo.com/200336578 The link is the Churchill Square, it's a video taken of the shopping centre at christmas time. https://vimeo.com/200336564 The next one is of the ice rink at the royal pavilion it shows the inside of the ice rink at peak time. https://vimeo.com/200336556 This is a link to a video of the I360, it shows what you would see if you were up the viewing block. https://vimeo.com/200336539 This link is to a video of what you'd see using the app if you were outside Globalls. This video I found on youtube is a great demonstration on an augmented reality video. I think this is a great example of AR and this video showed me ways I could even use the map I created to see the videos from home, In my final project proposal I will show the app as if you were outside the places, however I feel that this could be a way to develop my ideas in the future if I was interested in continuing with working with Augmented Reality.
This is a frame by frame of the powerpoint, at the top of this blog has the links to the videos that is connected on the powerpoint.
(Visit my powerpoint in RhiannonRolfSemester4Projects-VisibleInvisibleProject-Final to see the powerpoint along with the moving working videos) Looking into apps that are used in the tourist community, I found google translate, this traditionally was used to translate one form of language into another, however! on its app it now offers a option where you hold your phone over a section of writing from something like a menu, poster, advert etc. and translates it into your chosen language. This app is a handy app to have in different countries and showed me whats avaible for tourists. Although my project is showing a aumented relaity, this one used your camera which you hover over a piece of text to show something that was previously invisible to you, and therefore I feel this shows a great form of relation to my idea. This is a screenshot taken from the Drayton Manor website, whilst doing this project I remembered seeing this on their website. I found this showed a similar reality to what I was looking for, it allowed people to view a street view of the area and allows people to see a point of view video of being on the ride. I feel seeing this on the website gave me a great relation to what I wanted to create.
As one of my chosen places to visit in Brighton I have designed a GIF of the classic merry go round which is located near the rear end of the Pier. The GIF will be attatched to the location using Aurasma, this fun way of showing the Pier will allow people to view a element of the Pier without giving to much away.
This video shows someone using the Aurasma app, it demonstrates what happens when you hold your camera over its tagged location. I will be using the app throughout my project to show how off my augmented reality.
I have decided to use the Aurasma app which tags images/videos to locations. I am going to give a virtual reality of what you would see inside the chosen places, allowing people to experience things through digital technogly. Below I will make a list of the places I would reccomend to visit and aswell show what I will be tagging along with the areas.
The Pier- will have a GIF tagged to it of the iconic merry go round The I360- see a video of what you'd see inside the I360 and the view you'd experience on it Vist the local pubs- have a rewinded continous clip of a pint being poured at the classic King and Queen pub Waterfront down the Marina- view a video clip of the varity of resturants along the long paths Visit the glow in the dark golf course- tag a image of the inside decoration at Globalls Take a class at Marina studios- connect a snippit video of one of the classes inside the studio Visit the Pavillion-tag a image of when it was first built so tourists can see the culture Brighton lives in Ice Skate at the Pavillion rink ( whilst it lasts ! )- tag a video of me when I went ice skating Try out the new Hollywood bowling rink- tag the inside of it and the VIP area I have decided to create a project showing all the exciting things i'd recconmend doing in Brighton. This project has been a long journey into deciding my final idea however I feel combining my passion with my hometown is the most successful way to do this project. Starting off this project I am going to create a list of all the exciting things to do in Brighton including a couple of minor things that some people may not be aware there is to do here. I am going to look into previous forms of using QR codes and applications such as Aurasma.
Things to do in Brighton
Ideas
- The Historical Quarter in Brighton, celebrating the history in Brighton. - The people on St James Street, celebrating the people in Brighton. -The best things to do in Brighton, showing my favourite places that i'd like to go as well as the ones students would like to visit. Out of all of these I am going to go ahead with the best things to do in Brighton, this would allow me to show my opinion on the places in my hometown and the ones I believe students would enjoy the most. To construct a sequential narrative that will be revealed by interaction with an environment through a smartphone or other networked media devices. The simplest technical model for this process is the use of QR (Quick Response) codes that will allow you to tag specific locations or objects to specific digital content that has been uploaded onto the web. There are other methods and applications to explore this locative and pervasive narrative, through AR (Augmented Reality) apps and techniques, some of which we will be looking at during the project, including the phenomena of Pokemon Go, but please make as much research yourselves on other applications and creative projects currently being explored.
